The optimal development of educational initiatives in the health care of the elderly requires that universities, faculties, and health professionals collaborate on curriculum development.
The structure and development of a coalition of five health science centers in Ontario, Canada, are described.
The Ontario University Coalition for Education in Health Care of the Elderly seeks to create a collaborative network of educators across the province of Ontario who are committed to the mutual support and encouragement of curriculum developments and dissemination of information and expertise.
Some of the strategies that the coalition adopted and the results of its first 5 years of operation are reported.
