Epilepsy in developing countries. Workshop. Heemstede NLD, 1993/06/25.
PERDHAKI is the acronym of The Association of Voluntary Health Services of Indonesia.
It is a Roman Catholic institution with a very extensive network of hospitals, policlinics and primary health care units throughout Indonesia.
The Head Office of PERDHAKI in Jakarta now has a section, called the Epilepsy Section, that deals with the epilepsy project, which shall be discussed in this chapter.
Employing the resources of PERDHAKI for the improvement of epilepsy care was first discussed by Harry Meinardi and Priguna Sidharta at the Congress of the World Federation of Neurology in Barcelona in 1973.
It was suggested that PERDHAKI appeared to be the most suitable non-govemmental health organization to help establish a league against epilepsy in Indonesia.
