To assess clinical laboratory science (CLS) personnel needs in Utah and to develop ways to recruit and retain CLS workers.
Clinical laboratorians were sent questionnaires asking their opinions about their profession and their suggestions about recruiting and retaining CLS employees.
Major employers of laboratorians were surveyed to determine current and projected staffing needs.
(1) Laboratorians employed by Intermountain Healthcare in Utah. (2) Department heads in the facilities of major employers of laboratorians in Utah: hospital laboratories, outpatient clinical laboratories, and private laboratories.
