Two-year results of a randomized controlled trial of a health promotion program in a retiree population : the bank of America study.
To evaluate the effectiveness of a health promotion program in a retiree population in terms of health irk reduction and reduction in medical costs.
Randomized controlled trial.
Bank of America retirees (n=4,712), divided into 33 retiree club regions, were randomized into 3 groups and followed for 24 months by patient report and claims experience.
Group 1, the intervention group, received a lowcost ($30 / year), individualized serially reinforcing health promotion program including risk appraisal, recommendation letters, and self-management arterials, delivered entirely through the mail.
