Behavioural and cognitive psychotherapies: past history, current applications and future registration issues.
This draft report was requested by the National Executive of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
Our organization is member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, which is currently addressing registration.
We have been asked to draw up our own criteria for registration for members of the BACBCP who wish to register with UKCP.
These members will be practising behavioural and/or cognitive psychotherapy in a variety of settings.
In order to draw up criteria for registration, we need to consider the characteristic features of the behavioural and cognitive psychotherapies, and how we can assess the training and expertise of practitioners in this area.
