Analysis of hospital attendances for skin diseases is not a true prevalence study; however, it gives valuable information to the dermatologist.
A two week study of hospital attendances at the skin clinics in three major hospitals in Western Australia was conducted.
The most common conditions encountered were solar keratoses, psoriasis, malignant tumours and dermatitis.
These results are similar to those of a population based prevalence study carried out in Western Australian in 1979.
