The development and implementation of a three-day Young Scholar Program in clinical laboratory science (CLS) are described.
A Young Scholar Program provides college credit to talented high school juniors and seniors in various courses of study.
This program in CLS provides lecture and laboratory experiences in which students learn about the role of the laboratorian in the diagnosis of disease.
A diabetes mellitus case study is used.
A total of 226 students have completed the program since its inception in 1986.
