Clinical laboratory services in western rural frontier hospitals.
Hospitals in seven western states were surveyed to assess laboratory services in frontier America.
Questionnaires were mailed between December 1988 and March 1989 to administrators of 125 rural hospitals in the Mountain Census Region of the United states (Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado).
Information was collected about the hospital and its laboratory services.
A total of 51 usable responses were received, 41 from « frontier » hospitals of 50 or fewer beds and 10 from « rural » hospitals of 51 or more beds.
