To assess the impact of the introduction of an emergency medicine residency program on the quality of care in an urban community hospital emergency department.
A retrospective chart review of all ED encounters for a three-month period beginning six months before and six months after the introduction of an emergency medicine residency.
Setting:A 58,000-visit-per-year urban community hospital ED.
Type of participants
All patients who presented to the ED with one of five complaints and subsequently were discharged home.
