    The present paper examines the pattern of food consumption in a socially disadvantaged community in order to explore the best strategy for practical advice on achieving a lower fat diet.

    Also examined is the wider issue as to whether percentage energy from fat should be used as a measure of fat intake or as a target to be aimed for.
