    Traduction en anglais : Aids in Uganda. Features of the epidemic in an African country highly endemic for HIV-1.

    In Uganda the first cases of AIDS were reported in 1982.

    Since then, the epidemic has spread rapidly in the general population of the whole country.

    Today, one million inhabitants of Uganda are estimated to be infected with HIV-1.

    Highest seroprevalences are found with 31% in antenatal women of Kampala and with 50% in adults aged between 20 and 30 years in trade centers of rural Rakai.
