    Article - En allemand

Traduction en anglais : The concept of "acute exposure guideline levels" (AEGL) in emergency planning and response.

For the assessment of airborne concentrations of hazardous substances in emergency cases several guidance and limit values are available.

The concept of the « acute exposure guideline levels » (AEGL) is one of the scientifically best and practically oriented concepts for the derivation of such values.

The AEGL concept, which was developed in the USA, has now gained importance at the international level.

In Germany, the possible adoption of the AEGL concept is currently discussed.

The methodology in deriving the respective values is reviewed and is compared with other national/international guidance values for acute emergency exposure.

The current state of the AEGL development is reported.
