Traduction en anglais : Lipid intake in the health districts of the Autonomous Community of the Canaries.
Basis : The objective of this study was to evaluate the profile of the health districts that form the Antonomous Community of the Canaries in order to identify its characteristics and possible deviations from the recommended intake patterns for these nutrients.
2.025 family dietary surveys were carried out randomly in the Autonomous Community of the Canaries to obtain data on food consumption per family.
Average intakes of total lipids, of saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, and of cholesterol for normal individuals in each health district were determined using computer software with food composition tables, and origin by food group was also determined.
Lastly, a comparative study was carried out between the recommended intake patterns and the results obtained at district level.
Total lipid intake in the districts is very variable.
Maximum intakes were observed in Fuerte-ventura and El Hierro (154 and 150 g/per capita/day, respectively), while La Palma, Gáldar and Tirajana showed the lower intakes at district level (112 and 121 g/per capita/day, respectively).
The oil and fat proup is the one contributing most to total lipid intake, but the fraction varies greatly : from 44% in Tirajana to 53% observed in La Orotava and El Hierro.
The total lipid recommendatios is exceeded, as well as the contributio to total energy intake. (...)
