  1. Vulnerability to depression : Youth at risk : Emerging nursing care of vulnerable populations.

    Depression is the most prevalent mental health problem in adolescence.

    There are many psychosocial and biologic factors that increase risk for depression in youth.

    Nurses are in prime positions to be able to identify youth who are at risk and to assess the need for further intervention.

    Nursing actions that are aimed at prevention and early intervention can be instrumental in helping adolescents avoid what can be severe sequela of this insidious problem, including recurrence in adulthood.
