  1. Problems in monitoring for thorium intakes by workers : Difficulties of detection and model-related uncertainties of interpretation.

    The aim of this article is to provide a comprehensive review of specific problems and deficits in the monitoring and dosimetry of thorium intakes.

    Thus, the known monitoring methods are critically discussed in respect of their detection selectivity for realistic intakes of 232Th and their detection sensitivity in general.

    Furthermore, the relevance of the commonly used dosimetric models is examined on the basis of new data given in the literature, and suggested alternative dosimetric concepts are revued.

    An alternative monitoring regime is also suggested.
