It can be shown that oral and practical tests should be standardized to improve objectivity and reliability.
Multiple-choice examinations, which are widely used written tests of knowledge, have to be examined in detail.
Several studies were done to examine the quality of these different testing-methods.
The results strongly suggest that reliable and valid achievement tests in medical education should consist of a combination of oral, written and practical testing-methods.
