    Traduction en anglais : A heart surgery teaching model : Integrating medical teaching by a multiprofessional approach.

    In view of the demand for a paradigmatic change in medical school teaching the present work describes a teaching model « Cardiac Surgery » that was offered as part of an introductory course into clinical medicine to a small group of first year medical students in the summer semester 1997 and the winter semester 1997/98.

    It could be demonstrated that the project resulted in a marked increase in motivation of the participating students for the subsequent medical education.

    This kind of teaching requires a substantial degree of commitment on the side of the teachers and students, but may, nevertheless, be practiced within the context of a contemporary university based cardiac surgery department.
