1 One year following discharge from a transitional residential program, homeless women, some of whom were chemically dependent or mentally ill, indicated that they were satisfied with the program and that it had met their needs. 2 Suggestions for improvement related primarily to greater flexibility of rules in the transitional residence. 3 Most of the women had improved their housing situation since discharge ; all of the women continued to maintain a home for their children.
