    Article - En italien

Traduction en anglais : Mercury content of saltwater fishes in the western Ligure Sea and amount of weekly ingestion of mercury for the consumer eating the local fishes.

The Authors studied the mercury content of the main saltwater fishes present in the western Ligure Sea to define the amount of weekly ingestion of mercury for the average consumer eating the local fishes.

The results showed that the ingestion of mercury is lower than the Provisional Recommended Daily Intake defined by the FAO/WHO Committee.

The bentonic and predatory fishes contain the higher amount of mercury, being at the end of the food chain.

Fortunately, these species are lightly consumed and therefore influence marginally the weekly ingestion of mercury.
