A risk evaluation system for contaminated sites.

A computer system is presented which is an effective support for the Saxonian government offices responsible for the evaluation of contaminated sites.
This system consists of three main parts : the knowledge based program XUMA, the evaluation program GEFA and an analysis plan program.
XUMA includes a knowledge base with the principal methods for handling contaminated sites.
The main feature of XUMA is a knowledge acquisition tool for the evaluation method and the basic knowledge for preparation of analysis plans.
GEFA is a program for the systematic investigation and registration of sites suspected of being contaminated and for their evaluation with regard to environmental hazards.
With the help of the analysis plan program the user is able to create a plan for the chemical-analytical investigations which are required to determine the potential hazard of substances in the site.
