  1. The impact of managed care on the therapeutic identity of psychotherapists.

    Article - En anglais

Managed care has had a tremendous impact on the practice and profession of psychotherapy.

However, the policies and procedures of managed care often conflict with the fundamental principles of psychotherapy.

This, of course, causes dilemmas for psychotherapists at the level of practice, but it also creates internal psychological conflict in psychotherapists.

The source of this conflict is the disparity between the demands of contemporary practice and the internalized value system of the psychotherapist (i.c., therapeutic identity).

Typical ways in which psychotherapists resolve this dilemma are considered.

Furthermore, implications for psychotherapy training programs are discussed.
