Traduction en anglais : Calculation and measurement tools for the application of standards on the exposure of people to low frequency electric and magnetic fields.
Since 01/01/95, the applicability of the CENELEC pre-standard ENV 50166-1 on the exposure of humans to low frequency electromagnetic fields in the range [0-10 kHz] has been subject to a three year evaluation.
This time span has been used to find out the difficulties which can be encountered when applying the standard.
Since the beginning of 1995, EDF has been carrying out an evaluation programme of the impact of ENV 50166-1 on transport and distribution network facilities and also on industrial and domestic uses of electricity.
The object of this paper is to present the tools used by EDF in this study as succinctly as possible.
We will confine ourselves to the industrial frequency (50 Hz).
This frequency presents the advantage of being low enough to allow us to study the magnetic fields generated by the currents and the electric fields generated by the voltages separately.
