Environmental risks are a growing public concern in Hungary.
The threat o contaminated drinking water from abandoned and illegal hazardous wast disposal sites is receiving increased attention from citizens and from th environmental authorities.
In respect to the problems of hazardous wast disposal, one of the most important objectives of Hungarian environmenta policy is the enhancement of public health and safety.
A target of thi policy is the reduction of risks associated with the disposal of hazardou wastes.
This study presents a brief description of the current situation o hazardous waste management in Hungary.
The study also addresses a ris assessment technique and model for estimating landfill risks at the firs Hungarian hazardous waste disposal site as Aszod.
