Fault diagnosis and protection in industrial control systems.
The paper discusses the protection problems of processes and automatic control systems in cases of occurrence of faults of measurement and control devices as well as elements of technologic installation.
These protections consist usually in structure reconfiguration of the process and automatic control system (hardware/software).
The automatic generated diagnosis, which indicates possible faults, is the base for respective structure changes.
The accuracy of diagnoses required to choose the proper protection has been especially discussed.
The ways of protection and achieved results have been presented on the grounds of an automatic control system for water level in boiler drum of grate oven working in the heat and power generating plant of sugar factory.
