Traduction en anglais : Applied health-education in dermatology.
Implementation of preventive measures in occupational medicine utilizes health education intervention.
As an example, an interdisciplinary and integrative concept is presented.
The aim of this project is to enable workers (hairdressers) affected by occupational hand eczema to continue working in their profession.
The procedure combines medical treatment, individual advice, seminars in skin-safe working techniques, and visits in the salon to provide for behavioural and structural prevention.
Thus different specialists (physicians and educationalists) cooperate.
First results point to a good correlation between motivation of participants, social support and a favourable outcome. 184 hairdressers have now been recruited ; of them, 99 have undergone through all phases of the project.
In nine cases (9%) it was eventually decided that hairdressing work had to be given up, 84 hairdressers (85%) were able to continue to work and 6 (6%) needed further dermatological treatment.
