  1. Women, energy and environment : project design, implementation and management.

    Article - En anglais

The 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) placed an emphasis firmly on the integral role of women around the world - especially in developing countries - in achieving long term sustainability.

UNCED brought to centre stage the plight of rural and urban poor women, and their lack of empowerment in local projects.

Since then, international organisations such as the World Bank, the United Nations agencies and departments, Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and bilateral agencies have taken positive steps to ensure the participation of women in their projects.
