The aim of this study was to survey concern about the environment among medical students in Oulu in northern Finland.
A questionnaire was filled in by 181 (74%) students.
Most of the students were very concerned about the environment.
Over half of the students were very concerned about water pollution and destruction of the rain forests.
Female gender, membership in any environmental organisations and a good knowledge about the health effects of environmental factors were found to be significant independent factors to increase the concern.
