Managing managed care.
Symposium : The Cost of Psychotherapy : The Impact of Money. Washington, DC USA, 1992.
The original intention of this paper was to help the provider learn how to manage within the managed care system.
However, the author's concepts changed as he reviewed the data that was collected from practitioners in New Jersey and Florida.
In addition, the emergence of the Health Security Act as a viable legislative document made it clear that our only choice lay in altering the system.
The author reviews the antecedents of third-party managed health care and concludes that what we have (or will get) is the price of having a third party pay the bills.
The payor controls the system.
We will have to learn to live with the system that becomes law.
But, between now and then, we will have to be politically active in order to insure that the final bill that the President signs into law is one we like. epsilonArticle copies available from The Haworth Document Delivery Service : 1-800-342-9678.1.
