Importancia de los alimentos en la aparicion de una segunda generacion de enfermedades de la civilizacion.
Traduction en anglais : Importance of foods in the appearance of a second generation of diseases of civilization.
In this review the circunstances that contributed to the emergence of infectious diseases are discussed.
In many cases this emergence was due to the adaptation of the animal pathogenes to man.
It is also questioned if a second generation of diseases of civilization is arising.
These diseases are classified in five groups : uprising of the classical infectious diseases and appearance of new pathogens, increase in the frequence of incidence of food poisoning, the upsurge of the contamination of foods by chemicals, the higher involvement of natural constituents of human diet as risk factors in some chronic and degenerative diseases and, although not as much related with foods, the traffic accidents and the drugs.
The importance of these last two problems is well known.
