A transformational strategy for leadership and organization of cardiovascular services was designed by the nursing and physician leaders of the Cardiovascular Department at Children's Hospital in Boston.
The new Cardiovascular Program included changes in governance, administration, and clinical operations.
This organizational innovation is discussed and the successful outcomes achieved to date are described.
The level of creativity and commitment demonstrated by all staff is highlighted.
