Levels of risk as components of health : developing a conceptual model for nursing.
The purpose of this paper is to explore levels of risk as a phenomenon of interest to nursing.
In this conceptual framework, risk is explored as an element of health and as a construct with many dimensions that vary by time and by individual.
Immunity, resistance, susceptibility, and vulnerability are postulated to be separate and discrete components of the construct.
Clarification of levels of risk will provide a framework for nurses for modifying the environment or assisting clients or groups to promote health.
