    Traduction en anglais : The incidence and public health importance of fascioliasis in slaughtered animals.

    The incidence of liver fluke infestation in various food animals from 1987 and 1991 was recorded as follows :

    • in cattle 6.5,5.8,4.8,4.17,5.08% ;

    • in buffalo 3.53,2.74,2.29,3.8,5.1% ;

    • in sheep 1.1,1.4,1.52,0.96,14.72% ;

    • in goats 0.14,0.52,0.79,0.78% ;

    • these figures represent the years 1987 to 1991 respectively.

    In general the overall prevalence of Fasciola infestation amongst food animals was 1.55%. Cattle were the worst infested, the lowest figures being recorded for goats.

    Fascioliasis was found to be most prevament during the winter.
